The inaugural Nepal Premier League (NPL) T20 cricket tournament, held from November 30 to December 21, 2024, has been hailed as a transformative event for Nepali cricket. Organized by the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN), the tournament featured 32 matches at the TU Cricket Ground in Kirtipur, Kathmandu, attracting approximately 135,000 spectators.

The NPL garnered significant viewership beyond the stadium, with the final match between Janakpur Bolts and Sudurpaschim Royals drawing around 4 million viewers on YouTube. Notably, Star Sports, a prominent Indian sports channel, broadcasted the tournament, extending its reach to a global audience.

CAN Secretary and former national team captain Paras Khadka emphasized the tournament's success in enhancing the brand value of Nepali cricket and its positive reception in the international market. The participation of international cricket stars such as Shikhar Dhawan, James Neesham, Ben Cutting, and Ravi Bopara elevated the competition's prestige.

The NPL's success is seen as a pivotal moment, opening a new chapter for cricket in Nepal and setting a foundation for future growth and global engagement.
